Blogmas: mulled wine and market (Eng.)

Yesterday we visited the Bellevue Christmas market in Zurich, I think it is the most charming in the city and the food selection is to die for. The weather was stunning and finally no trace of fog, the temperature is strangely high at the moment and that’s lovely but I do hope for tons of snow this winter!

We arrived very early, right before the stalls were opening and that proved to be a great idea: later on it became quite busy and quite difficult to move around with a stroller, a dog and a wild toddler 😉
I can’t express how relieved I was when I saw Catherine having fun and not throwing her usual tantrum 😉

We started our tour by quickly wandering around all the stalls, I must admit that I never find anything interesting to buy at these markets but the atmosphere makes up for the lack of shopping opportunities 😉
At 11.30 we got a bit peckish and, since the idea was to snack on several things for lunch, we started with a delicious burger. We then reached the Dutch stall where we ate croquette (they tasted like heaven) and Catherine proudly posed in front of the stall, she’s a little Dutch after all and she proved it by devouring half a croquette ;).

As a dessert, Catherine had a sort of apple in dough with vanilla sauce which she ate while going up and down on a little road bump, it goes without saying that the food went everywhere…she even tried to pick it up from the floor! Luckily I stopped her in time, yukkie!!

Afterwards, we stopped at the ice rink where the Toddler was fascinated by the people skating. There I finally sipped my beloved mulled wine which made me feel a bit tipsy: yes I get drunk really easy 😉 Soon the ice rink charm stopped working and we had to proceed as per our boss’ (Catherine) orders.

We went for a last snack and we tried Raclette which consists of melted cheese on a slice of bread, it was so delicious that it still gives me a watery mouth when I think about it. Catherine is a cheese lover and, of course, appreciated the treat.

It was soon time to leave as Catherine had to be in bed for her nap by two, it was getting really too busy anyway so time to go!
This time we truly enjoyed the market and I’m so happy about it!

We spent the rest of the day chilling at home (yes I’m still recovering from the nigh out, what a wimp!) but we also filmed a video which I will post soon on my Youtube channel and here on my blog so stay tuned!
