The first week in Amsterdam

The first week in Amsterdam was just incredible! The weather with a stunning blue sky and the warm temperature made me fall in love with this amazing city even more!
We had tons of boxes to sort out but we worked very hard to get that out of the way as quickly as possible! Of course there are still details to fix around the house but the house feels very welcoming and I’m very happy with how it looks so far.
Once we’d accomplished the unpacking part we went out and walked a lot to discover Amsterdam as much as we could. We also managed to go to the botanical gardens at De Keukenhof and to two different seaside locations but I will talk about that in a separate post 😉

Amsterdam with the sun is extraordinary and every corner is filled with picturesque details which made my photography obsession even worse! I think that I already took few hundreds of pictures, what can I say?!?  The city is so beautiful and I can’t help myself. Thank God I have a very supportive husband who supports my passion!

Catherine settled in very well! I think she is a real city toddler: in the buggy she is not as bad as I thought (so far) and she loves to look at the trams and the bicycles. By the way, I really want to learn to bike around the city: it’s fun, free and helps to stay fit. However I need to get used to it as the people on the bikes are really “fast and furious” here 😉
Another thing that Catherine loves is to go play at the park: the parks here are great for children of her age and, throughout the city, is full of small play areas which is great as the kids never get bored!

The people are very friendly and they don’t mind to speak in English which makes my life so much easier compared to Switzerland. I’m planning to learn Dutch as well but it’s not so easy as I’m always with Catherine…

I like the food here a lot!! They do the best sandwiches ever and I love sandwiches! I could literally eat them all the time plus kids eat a slice of bread with cheese or ham for lunch. What more could a mother, who hates cooking, ask for?

Since Amsterdam is a very touristic spot I will start a new column in which I will give you some recommendations about things to do in the city but also in the surroundings and in the rest of Holland. I hope you will like that!
I feel truly blessed to have the chance to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, I’m just so happy and I feel like I don’t deserve so much joy but that is just me. Anyway Amsterdam stole my heart and I cannot wait to tell you all about it from now on!
