If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I’m a porridge lover, in fact I could eat porridge everyday and anytime; I like it as much as I like my treats and, trust me, I do love treats! I’m so happy that I discovered porridge as it’s an healthier option to the breakfast with cookies to which, as many Italians, I was used.
It’s so funny that I like it so much as, the first time I ate it, I found it disgusting but with time it grew on me and now it’s my daily breakfast fix.
My favorite recipe is the Jamie Oliver one I’ve found here:
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 160 gr. oj jumbo organic rolled oats
- 600 gr. of milk or water
- a pinch of salt
Instructions:
* Pour the milk in a sauce pan, add the milk and put it on the stove at medium heath.
* Add the pinch of salt.
* Simmer gently for 5/6 minutes while stirring constantly.
* Add milk if you like it runnier.
I normally prepare the porridge the night before and keep it in the fridge so it’s ready to be cooked the next morning and it gets much creamier as well. I like my porridge with dates, banana and honey, they are absolutely my favorite toppings. As I’m a bit boring on this, I would love if you could advice me on any yummy alternatives to my usual suspects!
I love porridge too, I’ve been making it just lately with a teaspoon of cinnamon, mashed banana and honey. Delicious. So many ways to vary it and a great start to the day
