Home tour: a very merry Christmas bedroom

It’s so easy to add a Christmassy touch around your house and it doesn’t have to be expensive either. This year I’m fully committed to decorating my home throughout and the bedroom is no exception. Here is how to make your bedroom feel festive and cosy in a few easy steps and to get ready for the most wonderful time of the year!

Step 1

Get a FESTIVE DUVET COVER SET depending on your chosen decorative theme. This year mine is very traditional and all about red shades so a tartan pattern seemed just the thing. I’ve chosen a brushed set for added warmth and coziness and now I can’t live without my brushed blanket anymore: I definitely need to purchase another one. Add a few matching pillows and your bed will feel like new!

Step 2

Add a few DECORATIVE TOUCHES that blend with the colours of your duvet. I have used some winter berry which lasts forever, alternatively you can use red bloom or various winter branches. I’ve decorated a plain green wreath with pinecone that I got from Sainsbury and, as a finishing touch, added a tree candle. Of course you can add as many candles as you wish: there is not such a thing as too much flickering around Christmas.

Step 3

Remember that battery operated FAIRY LIGHTS are your best friend here. You can pop them everywhere really and they are super convenient to switch on and off. This year I love the one from Primark with the copper wire, I think that I’ve bought 6 packs already: they are only 2.50 so no guilty feelings this time.

Step 4

ENJOY your newly decorated bedroom with your family. If you have kids be prepared to have to rearrange the fairy lights a few times a day as they seem to be a true entertainer for children of any age!
