A food experience along the Thames: Coppa Club

The summer is coming to an end but you’re still in time to immerse yourself in a floral paradise along the River Thames.
Coppa club was on my list of “must try” for rather a long time: as you might imagine, with two young children every journey seems like a very long one. However, now things are getting easier to plan so I finally could give the Coppa club a try.

I admit that what attracted me as a magnet in the first place was, hear hear, the floral installation in their gorgeous terrace and I was not disappointed. It is, in fact, quite spectacular and the view is amazing! Admiring Tower Bridge, or the Shard while you’re savouring delicious food is a pretty special experience.

I ordered pancakes which, surprisingly, were served with bacon on top. I didn’t read the menu properly (I was too busy taking photos) and, as an Italian, I found the combination quite odd. I gave it a go despite not being too convinced about it at all. Well, I can tell you that it was some of the best bacon I have ever tried: beautifully crunchy and the maple syrup on top made it heavenly. The pancakes were also cooked to perfection and our waiter was a star: he offered to bring me more syrup without me even asking. I mean, yes please! I always get annoyed by the stinginess when it comes to that: I like my pancakes drowning in it, a guilty pleasure I know but if you eat something, eat it properly, or at least that’s my motto.Coppa Club Interior and Shard ViewCoppa Club terrace on the ThamesCoppa Club cabanas

Charles had the English breakfast and he was also pleased with it.

The interior of Coppa club is elegant and modern, with some traditional touches here and there. With a bar featuring an endless choice of liquors, marble floors and even a fireplace, this place has a bit for everyone’s taste.

Located in a prime spot, Coppa Club is open from dawn till late evening, seven days a week, serving laid back European food. I myself can’t wait to return and dip another pancake into loads of syrup.
