If you are planning a romantic trip to Paris and you are looking for a classy boutique style hotel in a central location then I know just the place for you!
Located in the Latin Quartier: one of the oldest and most famous districts of Paris, the Hotel Monge is the ideal place to stroll around beautiful Paris.
The Hotel Monge’s interior were originally created by Marie-Agnès Louboutin and Patrice Henry and has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2016: bright and airy rooms, Hungarian point parquet flooring, Carrara marble fireplaces and tropical themed wallpaper from the Maison Deyrolle make Hotel Monge a true gem to discover and your perfect home away from home with a Parisienne chic twist.
We were there for two nights and we loved our stay: our room was so beautiful and curated with great attention to detail. I loved the parrot wallpaper and Catherine was obsessed with the mini lights in the shower: she thought they were diamonds ;). The lounge was also beautifully decorated: so elegant and chic, it made me want to renovate my living room as well.
The Honesty bar was offering a selection of aperitifs, digestives, wines, champagnes and non-alcoholic drinks daily from 6pm to midnight: all guest can serve themselves with their favourite drinks and simply fill a form to let the reception know what has been consumed. Their salon also featured an automatic wine bar, we LOVED that!
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and I surely wasn’t disappointed, nor were the kids, running around covered in croissant crumbles to the joy of the other guests (sorry!). The selection was huge: perfectly crunchy viennoiseries, crêpes, fresh fruits, plenty of salty choices and the amazing cereal dispensers! I don’t think Catherine ever ate so much cereal as in those two days. She was so proud that she could make the dispenser work on her own so she was constantly refilling her bowl ahah!
The hotel is located within walking distance to so many Parisienne hotspots: Notre-Dame Cathedral is a short walk away and so is the breathtaking Île de la Cité. If you like relaxing in the green you are also very close to Jardin des Plantes or the Jardin du Luxembourg. My biggest tip for Paris is to WALK: this city is so beautiful and you’ll discover its beauty at every corner.
Lastly, the hotel Monge boasts a massage room and a hamman that can be booked privately and is available to all guests of the hotel, we weren’t able to take advantage of those services as, you know, holiday with kids 😉 however I had a peek at those rooms and they look like the ultimate relaxation treat so do try them.
I would surely suggest this hotel to a family travelling with young kids and I would love to return, maybe in summer?
